Institute for Regenerative Musculoskeletal Medicine

At the Institute for Regenerative Movement Medicine in Hamburg, we combine modern conservative orthopedics with carefully selected regenerative procedures. The aim is to support the natural healing and adaptation mechanisms of your musculoskeletal system - structured, evidence-conscious and without unrealistic promises. We treat acute and chronic complaints of tendons, muscles, joints, cartilage and spine with a clear step-by-step plan: first diagnostics and stress management, then targeted training and physiotherapy, supplemented - if appropriate - by procedures such as shock waves or autologous blood preparations (PRP). Our location: Dorotheenstraße 48, 22301 Hamburg (Winterhude).

FAQ

An approach that specifically supports the self-healing of the musculoskeletal system - primarily through structured conservative measures and, when appropriate, supplemented by procedures such as PRP, shock wave or needle-supported tendon stimulation.

PRP can relieve discomfort and improve function in early to moderate stages of knee osteoarthritis. The effects vary from person to person, are not detectable in all patients and are limited in time. It does not replace basic therapy and does not rebuild advanced cartilage.

After blood is drawn, the plasma is prepared and injected under sterile conditions - usually guided by ultrasound. This is followed by a short rest phase, then a gradual rehabilitation plan. Often 1-3 sessions are scheduled, spaced weeks apart; The procedure depends on the findings and course.

Temporary pain, tenderness or bruising are common. Infections, nerve irritations or allergic reactions rarely occur. We work with sterile techniques and clarify risks individually.

Reimbursement is inconsistent. Many orthobiological procedures are considered self-pay services (IGeL). We provide transparent information in advance about the effort and options.

ESWT can reduce pain and stimulate tissue activity, but is not a “cure-all.” The effectiveness varies depending on the diagnosis. The key is to combine it with a structured exercise program.

There is no rigid age limit. More relevant are diagnosis, activity goal, comorbidities and expectation management. We check individually whether the benefits and risks are proportionate.

That depends on the diagnosis and therapy. Tendinopathies often require weeks to a few months; In the case of osteoarthritis, the therapy is aimed at sustainable everyday life and sports resilience. We start by defining realistic timelines and return-to-activity criteria.
